本节课是7B第七单元的第一课时的内容，从本单元整体来看，本单元的内容是关于不同的人的不同的能力，以及人们运用这些能力去帮助别人。本课作为单元的导入课，结合单元主题，鼓励学生通过本课学习，及时运用所学的相关词汇，对于个人能力和乐于助人的相关话题，进行讨论和展示。由于本节课，较贴近学生的现实生活，容易被学生理解，相关的谈论话题较多，学生比较感兴趣。
Comic strip中Eddie想要证明自己具有飞行的能力的话题。狗不同，能力肯定有差距。学生在role play环节，学生积极思考：梦想是可贵的，就是本身不能飞翔，思想上也要翱翔于九天之上。贪吃懒惰的Eddie，比起现实的Hobo，更显可爱与受人敬重。话题一转，“如果Eddie真的是superdog，它会有哪些超能力？”
每个人拥有不同的能力，在自己力所能及的范围之内帮助有需要的人。课题通过帮助谁，如何帮助他们的探讨，帮助学生层层探究，解决问题。
