Teaching objectives:

By the end of the lesson, students are expected to:

1. understand the structure of news and tell stories in simple past tense.

2. sort out the story logically and creatively transform the story into the dialogue of journalists.

3. experience the Chinese neighborhood culture and the bravery and wisdom of Chinese people.

Teaching key and difficult Points:

1. To tell the process of saving people in simple past tense.

2. To know something about the fire escape.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1 Pre-reading

1. Learn some new words and phrases and finish the exercise.

2. Play a guessing game and learn something about fire.

Step 2 While-reading

1. Fast reading:

(1) Read the article quickly and find out some basic information about it.

1) Where is the text from?

2) What’s the name of the newspaper?

3) What’s the headline of the news?

(2) Figure out the structure of the news.

(3) Read for the main idea and structure.

2. Detailed reading:

(1) Read Para.1 and answer the questions.

(2) Read Para.2 and fill the table.

(3) Read Para.3 and put the events into the right order.

(4) Listen to Paras.4-6 and choose the correct answer.

Step 3 Post-reading

  1. Read in roles.

  2. Act the dialogue out.

  3. Further thinking:

    (1) What can we learn from the article?

    (2) How to be careful with fire?

    (3) If there is a fire, what should we do?

    Step 4 Homework

    1. Review what we’ve learned today.

    2. Search for more information about fire safety.

2024523号上午第二节课,我在初一(2)班开设了本学期的校级公开课,授课内容为7B Unit 7 Abilities--Reading I。本单元属于人与自我范畴,做人与做事主题群。本课时是一篇新闻报道,讲述一个20岁小伙子林涛如何在火灾中救出邻居老奶奶的故事。通过学习新闻这一体裁,引导学生关注“看”,学会“思”。通过文本的学习,让学生学会有条理地叙述一件事情,掌握和巩固过去时态,并引导学生发现自己或者他人勇敢善良等优秀品质,同时增强基本生活常识,学会预防火灾和逃生方法。

从内容上来看,本班学生的英语学习基础尚可,有一定的知识储备和语言基础,对于一般过去时和动词的过去式已经有了一定的了解。但是,本篇文章中仍然出现了大量的生词,以及生词的过去式,因而教师需要帮助学生理解这些新的词汇。从题材角度来看,本篇文章讲述的是主人公见义勇为的故事,涉及到火灾相关常识,学生对此类话题有较大兴趣。

本堂课结束之后,学生能够了解新闻报道文体,运用过去时态讲述故事;能够有逻辑地对故事进行梳理,有创造力地将故事内容转化成记者采访的对话;能够体会中国的邻里文化和中国人的勇敢与智慧。

课后我也进行了反思。本堂课基本实现了教学目标,能够使大部分的学生学会运用过去时态讲述文中事件,能够基于本课所学完成最终的合作采访任务。在阅读过程中,几次通过追问,引导学生进行深度思考,让学生对该事件有了较为深刻的理解,也对见义勇为一事有了批判性的认知,并增加了学生的用火常识。内容比较充实,环节比较连贯。教学设计的逻辑通顺流畅也为学生提供了足够的支架,逐步挖掘学生思维的深度,学生在课堂中能够进行有效的输入与输出,教师能够基于学生的课堂生成及时地给予反馈和评价。

本节课也存在不足、有待提升之处。比如文本浅层阅读和基于文本的深度思考及迁移运用的时间占比需要更合理地调整,需要给学生更大的空间去思考和表达。
